| | Westminster Carbon Counting Conference | 24 January, 2008 |
| | Many leading edge organisations, communities and individuals are now undertaking carbon audits of their own operations. This conference will present a range of the main carbon counting methods with case studies and rationales on how they are being used, discussions around the units and factors used in their calculations and on their wider relevance to carbon counting and targeting in general. | | It’s all about managing your waste - in the design and on site | 30 January, 2008 |
| It is no longer a case of why you should ensure effective waste management, but more a case of ‘you cannot afford not to’. Whether you are a client, designer or a construction contractor, there is a wealth of reason to become actively engaged in delivering waste management ‘best practice’.
Adopting the principles of effective waste management on a project demonstrates a firm commitment to sustainable construction and can deliver a range of benefits, including: reduced material/disposal costs; legal compliance; increase competitiveness; improved social responsibility; and a lower carbon footprint.
Due to the significance of construction waste; Government (lead by DEFRA) is instigating plans for Site Waste Management Plans (SWMP) to become compulsory. It is therefore a necessity that organisations are prepared for what lies ahead?
The construction industry must (as have other organisations) move beyond simply dealing with waste, but to manage its resources and move towards eliminating waste altogether. | | | | Event Venue: | CIRIA, Classic House | | Address: | 174-180 Old Street London | | Post Code: | EC1V 9BP | | Country: | United Kingdom | | Contact: | Events team | | Telephone: | 020 7549 3300 | | Fax: | 020 7253 0523 | | Email: | enquiries@ciria.org | | Web Site: | www.ciria.org | | |
