Rick Forward, sole proprietor of New from Old in Cambridgeshire, designs and handcrafts bespoke solid wood kitchens and furniture. All his furniture is made from either reclaimed pine or new FSC hardwoods, which results in environmentally friendly kitchens and furniture. There is a huge variety of temperate zone hardwoods available from FSC certified sustainable sources, including oak, beech, elm, ash, maple, chestnut, walnut and fruitwood such as cherry, apple, and pear. New from Old does not have a standard range of furniture, thus virtually any size or design of furniture, from fitted kitchens to individual freestanding pieces can be accommodated. A complete design and planning service is offered, many traditional woodworking methods are employed and native materials such as marble, slate and tiles, are used for surfaces, splash backs, etc for decorative detail and dramatic effect. The furniture may be finished in a variety of ways from waxed or oiled to lacquered or painted. New from Old offers a complete installation service and a project management role.
